Responding to “Run for Children - 2011”

In order to show their interest and sharing with the children suffering from cardiac problems in difficult circumstance, on 4 December 2011, MSV members actively responded in by joining a 2011 Run for Children.

Run for Children is a charity run that initiated by Terry Fox, a young Canadian humanitarian more than 10 years ago. He was also a victim of cancer. Without his left leg which was cut off because of cancer, he ran around Canada for more than 4 years until he died. In 2011, the Terry Fox Run was renamed as “Run for Children" on the initiative of the Canadian Embassy. The Run was organized by the Canadian Embassy, the Canadian Business Association in Viet Nam and Viet Nam – Canada Friendship. The Run was enthusiastically joined by local people and staff from international organizations.

In 2000-2010 period, the Run attracted the participation of almost 50,000 people and more than VND 4 billion was raised though selling T-shirts, cash and in-kind support for the program; sponsorship and payment for hospitalization of the pediatric patients identified by the Ha Noi Union of Friendship Organizations.

It is well known that all subscribed money from the Run will be used to support the children with difficult circumstances suffering from life-threatening diseases who are in the Ha Noi Heart Hospital, the Vietnam National Hospital of Pediatrics and Viet Heartbeat Fund.
